Not long ago, I wen to the “My Name’s Paul Smith” exhibition located at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza. In the exhibition, you can see a collection of gifts, graphics, and photographs from the people who surrounded Paul Smith. It seems that Paul Smith truly lived a life of maximalism.
One of the pictures in the exhibit was a man with a suit. There were the initials D.H. The first person that came to mind was David Hockney because there were works from other famous artists also displayed in the exhibition.
Then, I recalled seeing David Hockney’s work at a previous exhibition. His signature was his full name, not initials. Perhaps famous artists simply initial their work when they are gifting to a colleague. I guess that must be left to the imagination.
