With the start of the fourth industrial revolution, production means are also entering an era of customization and individualization. Small and medium-sized enterprises also need to strengthen their design capabilities to actively respond to consumer needs.

In a forum organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on Monday at Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul, experts agreed that design should be used throughout management strategies in order for small and medium-sized companies to lead the domestic industry. 

Prior to implementing the policy, the Seoul Economic Daily set up a sit-in meeting to find ways to change the paradigm of the nation's industry through design and directions of support for small and medium-sized enterprises. The meeting was attended by Do Kyung-hwan, Head of the Industry Infrastructure Division at the Ministry of Industry, Chung Yong-bin, Head of the Institute for Design Promotion, Nagan, Dean of the Graduate School of International Design at Hongik University, Lee Chul-bae, Executive Director of LG Electronics, and Choi So-hyun, CEO of Perception.
